Say what every symbol does
Identify inputs, outputs, constants, and units. Distinguish a scalar from a vector or matrix. A symbol list is useful only when it tells you the role each quantity plays in the relationship.

Choose a small example
Substitute values you can calculate by hand. Start with a simple case such as zero motion, an identity transformation, or a short vector. Predict the result before calculating it.

Check the boundaries
Ask what happens when an input is zero, very large, or outside the assumed range. Some formulas have conditions that matter more than their compact appearance suggests. Write those conditions beside the equation.

Translate back into a sentence
Explain what changes when one input changes and why. Then sketch a picture or graph if it clarifies the relationship. The aim is to connect the formal expression to an interpretable behaviour.
